Job Summary / Responsibilities

 

Directs the activities of the Service Team, to include the Technicians, Service Writers and oversees the Parts Manager, Detail Manager and Lot Supervisor.  Responsible for the department’s performance, cost control, planning of equipment maintenance, and safety compliance.  Coordinates repairs and services to obtain maximum utilization of equipment, personnel and facilities. Ensure complete compliance of Company policies and procedures while evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees and resolving conflicts.

  • Answers technical questions about vehicle problems, warranties, services, and repairs
  • Oversees repair orders
  • Outstanding Internal / External Customer satisfaction standards
  • Orders parts and tools as necessary with the Parts Manager
  • Assists with warranty claims & aftermarket service contracts as needed
  • Oversees training and supervising of service department, including detail and lot Supervisor
  • Works with HR to make service department hiring and discipline decisions
  • Sets schedules and assigns tasks to department employees
  • Reinforces company policies and adheres to company standards
  • Ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Maintains good working relationship with all employees
  • Fully engaged member of the management team
  • Maintain effective / positive employee relations
  • Interact with external vendors
  • Manage technician productivity and training
  • Take ownership of the customer's experience by carrying out those additional assignments that allow the dealership to leave a positive impression with the customers
  • Ability to develop internal talent
  • Manage retail service to Company goals

Required Minimum Qualifications

As an Automotive Service Manager, you will be experienced and aware of the latest customer service practices and be a persistent problem solver. Factors that will enable your success as a Service Manager: 

  • At least 5 years of experience in a service management or assistant service management role or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Post-secondary training in the automotive industry or background in business administration
  • Previous Automotive Technician experience is preferred
  • Ability to determine discounts, interest, commissions and related items
  • Professional attitude dealing with internal / external customers
  • Previous dealership experience
  • DealerTrack experience preferred
  • Computer proficient Microsoft Suite
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Lead by example approach
  • Safety minded
  • Have a positive “can do” attitude
  • Self-motivated with the ability to motivate others
  • Ability to work days and weekends as needed
  • Valid driver's license

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

The essential duties for the Automotive Parts Advisor cover a wide range of areas in the service department to included but not limited to: service writing, answering incoming phone calls from external and internal customers, clearly and accurately documenting requests for parts or services requested, scheduling, billing, building estimates, explaining and selling service to customers for retail, locating and purchasing parts, checking-in parts and coordinating inventory audits, verify the correct parts are ordered for the technicians, receive payments, filing, customer follow up, warranty claim administration, works closely with vendors and suppliers and tracking the progress of vehicles through sublet vendors and internal operations.

 

Required Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Valid driver’s licenses
  • High School diploma or equivalent GED
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the auto industry
  • Ability to work days, nights and weekends as needed
  • Good computer skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Good written communication
  • Can-do attitude
  • The willingness to succeed and excel
  • Positive attitude
